Some of the things the books don’t tell you about having a baby!

If you have recently become a new parent then life becomes a roller coaster of emotion, joy and inadequacy. There is so much to learn and yet there is no time, as your newborn seems to need your attention every waking minute of the day and night. The first few weeks are about getting through each day, but also enjoying your baby. Before you know it you will be wondering where those first few weeks have gone! It takes time for you and your baby to get to know each other but after a while it will all start to fall into place.

This website is a compilation of the most essential advice and tips that we and our friends have shared with each other to get us through those first few weeks and months of parenthood. Often the baby books go into a lot of detail about how to bath a baby or what to look for in a push chair. But there is a lot they don’t tell you. For instance what do you do if you need the toilet when you are out and you are on your own? (Use the disabled toilet, as the pram will fit in with you.) How do you get petrol when you are on your own with a baby in the car, or that the musical cot mobile is the best invention since the wheel as this simple device can allow you 20 minutes to get dressed and have a shower in the morning.
